A General Land Office land patent signed by John Quincy Adams dated March 20, 1828. The patent reads in part: "John Quincy Adams President of the United States of America, To All To Whom These Presents Shall Come, Greeting: Know Ye, That John Fergus of Miami County, having deposited in the General Land Office a Certificate of the Register of the Land Office at Cincinnati whereby it appears that full payment has been made for the South east quarter of Section nine in Township Seven of range Six, East containing one hundred and fifty-eight acres and ten hundredths of an acre of the Lands directed to be sold at Cincinnati, Ohio by the Actrs of Congress... ."
