A purple acetate satin boxing robe worn by Evander Holyfield for his WBA Heavyweight title fight against Mike Tyson on November 9, 1996 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. The robe features a black cuffs and lapels with "PHIL 4:13" stitched into the left lapel in silver lettering. Stitched into the upper right of the robe is a logo patch for "Ironhead Originals," Holyfield's Toronto-based clothing sponsor for the Tyson fight. Stitched into the back of the robe in large tackle twill lettering is "EVANDER/ HOLYFIELD/ THE REAL DEAL." The robe is accompanied by a black satin belt. After being scheduled to meet on two previous occasions - the first in 1990 when Holyfield was supposed to fight Tyson, who was upset by Buster Douglas before their scheduled bout, and the second in 1991 when Tyson withdrew due to a hip injury - Holyfield and Tyson met in the 1996 fight dubbed "FINALLY!" Tyson was heavily favored to win, but Holyfield defeated him winning the fight by technical knockout at the :37 second mark in the 11th of the scheduled 12 round fight. In victory, Holyfield also made history by joining Muhammad Ali as the only three-time Heavyweight Champion in boxing history. Categories: Evander Holyfield
