December 15, 1956 1/4 inch tape recording Louisiana Hayride Radio Show created by KWKH. Elvis made his first radio appearance on the stage of the Louisiana Hayride Show in October of 1954. One month later he signed a one year contract. In September of 1955 he signed a one year renewal of his contract. Within six months, "Heartbreak Hotel" hit the Top 40 charts, and soon after, Elvis' manager, Colonel Tom Parker, bought out the second contract, with the stipulation that Elvis return later that year and do a benefit appearance. On December 15, 1956, at the Hayride, excited fans could not be calmed as Elvis finished "Hound Dog". Announcer Horace Logan beseeched the crowd to return to their seats, and uttered for the first time the words, "Elvis has left the building". Also present is a copy of the recording on CD, a letter of authenticity from Louisiana Hayride owner Joey Kent and Announcer Frank Page, and Collector's Universe Catalog.
