Zemaitis 3/4 sized acoustic heart hole guitar, solid spruce top, Indian Rosewood back, with Zemaitis Hand Made Guitars label which reads: G. H./Darlene and signed by Tony Zemaitis, truss rod cover made from Dural engraved by master engraver Danny O'Brien, engraving features recipient's first name "Darlene" and a palm tree motif, the palm tree reflects the guitars history back to George's house in Hawaii. Also present is a photograph of Harrison with Darlene Schink. The guitar is split in the back down the center seam. Harrison, a friend and devoted customer of Tony Zemaitis specifically ordered this guitar for his housekeeper and nanny Darlene Schink. Darlene traveled traveled between the family's homes on Henley-On-Thames , Hawaii and Australia. When Darlene expressed an interest in learning to play the guitar, George commissioned this gift for her, made to be easily transported. This guitar was designed to be small enough to fit into an aircraft overhead bin. Zemaitis was a luthier of experimentation. Tony Zemaitis was one of the first custom guitar builders to experiment with shaped sound holes, he designed the famous "quarter moon" sound hole for Donovan, the most desirable of his shapes being the heart hole made famous by Eric Clapton's Zemaitis 12-string.
