"King Creole" soundtrack, vinyl, RCA, 1958, inscribed in blue pen "Nice working with you Elvis Presley. " The 23-year-old Presley received a 60-day extension from his draft board to finish filming before he was inducted into the U.S. Army. Presley's commitment to the military came at the height of his popularity. Many worried that his two-year army stint would diminish his popularity. Those fears were dashed as a few months later Dick Clark telephoned Presley on his 24th birthday to tell him that he had been voted Best Singer of The Year and "King Creole" had won Best Song of The Year for 1958 on American Bandstand.
