Black velvet fitted jacket, designed by Jax on label at collar Jax fashions were created by Jack Hanson in the 1950s. Hanson was an ex-baseball player for the Los Angeles Angels. He borrowed $500 and set up his shop in Balboa, California. He opened a second store in Beverly Hills and this is when he became successful. Actresses such as Marilyn, Natalie Wood, Joan Collins, and Janet Leigh loved his tight and sexy clothes including the trademark back zipper which allowed the female buttocks to be emphasized. The clothes were expensive and geared toward a wealthy young crowd. PROVENANCE: Lot 116, The Personal Property of Marilyn Monroe, Christies, New York, Thursday, 28 October 1999.
