Black, Aria Pro II Bass, serial number 4123392, gold hardware, accompanied by "Metallica Tour 1986" tour book which includes photographs of Burton with this bass. This bass was purchased by Burton while touring with Metallica in 1984. Burton used the Aria Pro while recording “Master of Puppets” in 1985 and touring the following year. He eventually received an endorsement from Aria. Burton said he liked this make and model because “You can beat the shit out of it and it stays in tune.” In 1982, while touring with the band Trauma, Burton was convinced to leave and join Metallica. He agreed to join under the condition that the band relocate from Los Angeles to San Francisco. Burton brought to Metallica his unique style of “lead bass”, wah pedal and song writing skills. Tragically, Burton was killed while on tour in Sweden in 1986. This guitar has been in storage since his passing. PROVENANCE The collection of Audrey Allen, friend of Cliff Burton. Categories:
