Black and white still photograph of Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable kissing shot by Eve Arnold from The Misfits, 1960. The Misfits was Marilyn Monroe’s last completed film. Directed by John Huston, starring Clark Gable, Montgomery Clift, Eli Wallach and Thelma Ritter, it was written by her then husband Arthur Miller. A problematic shoot due to the demise of the Monroe/Miller marriage and Marilyn’s drug use. Marilyn idolized Clark Gable, who served as a champion off screen to give her support while John Huston and Arthur Miller sought to change the script unfavorably for her character. Gable refused to shoot the edited script thus saving Marilyn from having to play a character that reflected her own flaws and seen by her then husband, Arthur Miller. 14 by 11 inches Categories: Marilyn Monroe
