This prop briefcase with shoulder strap and its contents were used by the character “Jack Bauer” portrayed by Kiefer Sutherland in the iconic television series 24 . This is one of only two identical Ralph Lauren briefcases used on the production and is complete with original prop documents inside. The contents of the briefcase include four letters addressed to a Beth Hobbs; a Washington Times Newspaper dated Sept. 3, 2007; assorted legal military files; two books on Washington D.C.; a Federal Bureau of Investigation file; and a file with the United States presidential Seal on it containing a copy of a presidential speech and several other documents, all of which were included to give the case realistic weight during filming. Bauer is seen with this briefcase in several key scenes of Day 7: 8:00am – 9:00am (Season 7, Episode 1) as he appears before a Senate Investigation Committee hearing to testify about the Counter Terrorist Unit's (CTU) past activities and defend his own use of torture. The actor again appears with the case in the following episode Day 7: 9:00am – 10:00am during the sequence where Jack apprehends his old CTU colleague, Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard), who is suspected of being a rogue terrorist but is actually working against corrupt elements within the U.S. government.
