A one-page typed draft letter on Johnny Cash's personal letterhead titled "A Personal Note. " The letter was apparently sent out with copies of his 1976 autobiography, Man in Black, in which Cash discusses his battles with drug addiction. In part, "In 1976, I wrote the book MAN IN BLACK. The purpose of this book was several fold. One of the primary reasons was to re-dedicate myself to the continuous basis and to remind myself of how close I really came to losing it all because of drugs, and possibly serve as an inspiration to others. My problem in drugs was the prescription kind issued by physicians that serve a legitimate need. I abused them, buying them by the hundreds, using every subterfuge in the book to get some doctor to write the prescription." Cash has made several changes and corrections, by hand, along the body of the letter. 11 by 8 1/2 inches Categories: Johnny Cash
