A two-page typed and signed letter written by Dietrich to her daughter Maria, and dated "Sunday, August 12. " Typed on "Grand Hotel Roma" stationary with handwritten annotations in blue ink, and signed "Mutti," this was sent while Dietrich was filming Monte Carlo (Titanus/United Artists, 1957) in Rome. The letter pertains to filming, and reads in part, "...Plan to go to Paris after all this for at least two weeks to meet 'you know who...'" This refers to an Italian actor with whom she became involved at that time, and visited at the Hotel Raphael in Paris. Dated "8/17, 56" in top left corner by an unknown hand. 8 1/4 by 5 3/4 inches.
