Steve Kaufman, American (1960–2010). A right-handed Everlast boxing glove hand painted by Steve Kaufman with screenprinted images of a young Muhammad Ali honoring his winning of the 1960 Olympic gold medal for boxing. Signed “Muhammad Ali” in black marker on the front of the glove. Additionally signed by Kaufman on the back of the glove and numbered “218/250.” Kaufman became Andy Warhol’s assistant at age 19 and grew into his leading protégé at Warhol’s studio “The Factory” in New York.
