A sheet of Johnny Cash handwritten working lyrics for the song “Poor Valley Girl," written on white lined paper in black ink. Written by Cash as an ode to June Carter Cash. Cash writes, in part, "She could never give up the homestead on the farm / Where they handed off tobacco in the big tobacco barn / And the long straight rows that ran / From the house down to the road / That runs to Al Carter's store in the logging truck she rode / She would sit and gaze at the foggy mountain top / As the swift hawk circled around the swift mountain rocks / In the school down in Hiltons she would read about the world / Created to be conquered by this poor valley girl." Signed "J.R. Cash," at the top right of page. This song was featured on John and June's 2000 release, Return to The Promised Land. 11 by 8 1/2 inches Categories: Johnny Cash
