A charcoal drawing, with original matte, from the film Passage To Marseille (Warner Bros. , 1944) directed by Michael Curtiz and starring Humphrey Bogart. Initialed in red in lower right corner "LD." The matte reads "Scene 29B Manning and Freycinet cross over steps from farmhouse to go to hangar and airfield -." "Freycinet" refers to Claude Rains' character, and "Manning" refers to a character played by John Loder. The drawing is by artist Lucien Denman, who studied at The Art Students League of New York City and the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere and the Julian Academie of Paris. He exhibited his fine art internationally and became a renowned commercial artist. Early in his career he worked, uncredited, for some Hollywood studio art departments in the 1930s and 1940s.
