A vintage photograph inscribed by Lucille Ball to her childhood friend, Pauline Lopus. As children, Lucy and Pauline lived next door to each other in Celoron, New York. The two remained life-long friends. While Lucille Ball went on to become TV royalty, Pauline made a life for herself in Celoron and taught at the same school Lucy and Pauline attended together as children. In 1954, as a special acknowledgment to her friend back home, Lucille Ball included “Pauline Lopus” into the dialogue of “Tennessee Ernie Visits,” an episode of I Love Lucy . On this vintage 1940’s studio portrait, Lucy’s sense of humor comes through in her intimate inscription to her girlfriend, written in black ink, which reads, “Pauline How silly can I look? Love Lucy” Obtained from the Pauline Lopus Estate Sale in 1997. 9 ¼ by 7 ¼ inches Categories: Lucille Ball
