A pair of fiberglass tablets, detail painted to look like the red granite found on Mount Sinai and inscribed in pre-Canaanite text originally from Arnold Friberg, the Assistant Art Director of The Ten Commandments (Paramount, 1956). Friberg was nominated for an Academy Award for his work in costume design on this film and played an integral part in conceiving the set design with Cecil B. Demille. The tablets were gifted by Friberg in 1986 to the current owner, whose possession they have remained in since. These tablets have traveled from Japan to Rome to Russia and in the United States at venues including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Science and Industry, the Motion Picture Academy, and Planet Hollywood. Most recently, the tablets were on display as part of a historic tour at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. Included with the lot is a souvenir album with full color artistic renderings from the film's key scenes as well as portrait photos and bios of the film's stars. The souvenir album is in its original paper sleeve. Categories: The Ten Commandments
