A metal-tipped bamboo cane belonging to Charlie Chaplin was among a collection of property sold to Entertainment Museum owner, Frans Billen. The cane has a small "RGM" inlay signifying Ravarini Castoldil & C. The RCM sticks can be recognized by the white trademark fitted in every stem. From the personal collection of Mirella and Giuliano Canese, the husband and wife who were in charge of the domestic affairs of Chaplin's villa, Manoir de Ban, near Lousanne, Switzerland for over 25 years. The couple was gifted several items, including this personally owned cane. Mirella Canese can be seen exchanging this cane with Billen in the above photograph. The cane was presented to Billen with a typed signed letter by Mirella and Giuliano Canese in French stating Chaplin had gifted this cane, in addition to other items, to the Caneses during their 25 year relationship with Chaplin. 35 inches PROVENANCE The Collection of Mirella and Giuliano Canese Please note: This lot will be on display at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London until January 27, 2013 and available for delivery to the winning bidder after that date.
