A whimsical Christmas card sent to Charlie and Oona Chaplin from Van Johnson. The envelope and card are covered in large inscriptions with a bold red marker. The card reads, "Another year since I've shared a fondue - alas. Will be in Rome in Jan. to film - I think of you very often - Love - Van." Johnson also adds a smiley-face drawing. The card also has the handwritten address "405 East 54th st. N.Y. 22," likely by Oona to keep Johnson's address for her records. The included envelope is addressed initially to Mr. & Mrs., but is crossed out and replaced with "Sir & Lady Charles Chaplin." The reverse has Johnson's name, address and another smiley-face doodle.
