A Roman style metal portrait bust of Richard Burton as Alexander the Great mounted to a marble base. Inscribed "El Monteverde/ Julio 1955." According to the consignor, the artist is related to Giulio Monteverde (1837-1917), who has major public works in Rome, Genoa, and Buenos Aires. It was made more than five years before Burton met Taylor and it meant so much to him that after he bought her Casa Kimberley for her birthday in 1964, Burton had it shipped from London to Puerto Vallarta.
