A sketch done in black marker on bristol board, hand drawn by Muhammad Ali, depicting Ali's defeat of Sonny Liston from their first fight. The sketch shows a victorious boxer (Ali) in the corner of the boxing ring with his arms raised, while another boxer (Liston) lays prone in the middle of the ring. There is a small drawing of a referee with his hand on the boxing mat counting the boxer out. The word "BANK" and dollar sign symbols are drawn above the victorious boxer. The original version of this sketch was drawn by Ali in 1966. In 1976, upon discovering a photo of the original 1966 sketch, Tim Shanahan, a friend of Ali's, asked where the original sketch was located, and Ali stated that he had given it to a charity organization in Miami. After Shanahan expressed a desire to have the original sketch, Ali sketched this version based on the photo of the 1966 sketch and, once completed, gave it to Shanahan. Signed "By Muhammad Ali" in black marker. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Shanahan. Sight, 23 1/4 by 19 3/8; 30 7/8 by 26 15/16, Overall, 30 7/8 by 27 inches Categories: Muhammad Ali
