A vintage custom Fender acoustic guitar, serial number 233852, in the style of the Fender Palomino in black finish but with upgraded pearloid Grover tuning pegs and painted headstock. The guitar is signed by Cash in silver marker, "I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die. Johnny Cash." The guitar was owned by cash in the 1960s and given to his daughter Cindy in 1977. The guitar was purchased directly from Cindy Cash and is accompanied by three letters. The first letter, on Johnny Cash letterhead, dated March 6, 2001 reads in full, "To Whom It May Concern: The purpose of this letter is to certify that this Fender guitar was personally owned and used by me. It was given to me by the Fender Guitar Company in the mid 1960s and I played it at the Grand Ole Opry and also at various live concerts. It originally had a brown pick guard but I had it changed to black. I gave this guitar to my daughter, Cindy Cash, in 1977." The letter is signed in black marker, "Johnny Cash." The guitar is also accompanied by signed letters from Cindy Cash and Johnny Cash's long time manager, Lou Robin, which discuss the provenance and details of the sale of this guitar. The guitar is in its original hard case which has a number of stickers and backstage passes including passes for a Fleetwood Mac and Joan Jett show. Categories: Johnny Cash
