The comic book adaptation was created by comic book artist Steve Erwin, who inscribed the piece in the lower right-hand corner. Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens inscribed the piece to William Shatner in the upper left-hand corner. "The Ashes of Eden" is a "Star Trek" novel that takes place six months prior to the death of James T. Kirk.
