Letter from Greta Garbo to her friend, actor Gilbert Roland, postmarked August 2, 1943, two sheets handwritten on front and back, accompanied by the original transmittal envelope. In the letter Garbo cautions Roland, "I do not think you should call Eleanor anymore. She will then begin to think she knows you..." Roland was stationed in North Carolina at the time. Garbo goes on to describe "the mountain boy," an unnamed suitor of her own. She says of him, "I love the boy of the mountains. He excites me." Eleanor and Mountain Boy, it is said, is what Garbo called her feminine and masculine side. Roland and Garbo were not linked romantically. This letter may merely be a joke between the two. As is typical of Garbo's letters, this letter is unsigned. 9 by 6 inches Categories: Greta Garbo
