About the Artist: Michael Surrey began his career at Walt Disney Animation Studios in June 1990, serving as an animating assistant on the short film The Prince and the Pauper. Most recently, he was the supervising animator for the character of the flashy Cajun firefly Ray in Disney'’s acclaimed The Princess and the Frog. Along the way, he has been responsible for bringing life to some of the studio'’s most memorable animated characters for such films as Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. In creating the artwork for his Disney Art for Music bass, Michael was joined by his daughter, Ellen. In fact, it was Ellen who jump started the project by coming up with a list of her favorite Disney movies and suggesting the "“pink elephants on parade" sequence from Dumbo. She chose this particular sequence because it had a wide variety of musical instruments in it, and she liked the color, animation, and historical importanc
