Clark Gable's personal script from "The Misfits" (Seven Arts, 1961) with a custom "Clark Gable" leather script cover, showing Clark Gables raised signature. Interior pocket holds a personal letter to Gable from critic Ward Morehouse and Gable's personal gold pen. Title page is inscribed by Arthur Miller, writer of the screenplay, "For Clark Gable with my deep regard Arthur Miller." Later Miller was quoted as saying, ""The casting of Gable was a problem because while he was intrigued by the script, he didn't understand it. I said, 'Well, it's an Eastern western. The preoccupation of the film is not what it usually is in a western film. It's about people trying to connect and afraid to connect.'" 11 5/8 by 9 1/2 inches PROVENANCE Lot 201, "Entertainment Memorabilia," Christie's, Los Angeles, Sale number 7927, December 15, 1996 Categories: Marilyn Monroe
