A collection of 17 single-sided records, most with Columbia Sound-On-Disc labels, containing the audio track for Howard Hughes' epic WWI film Hell's Angels (Caddo, 1930). The film was originally produced as a silent feature, but Hughes chose to convert the project to sound after the successful release of The Jazz Singer (Warner Bros., 1927). The records were designed to be played in synch with the projection of the film. Many of the discs are etched in the dead wax with the film's title as well as various iterations of "Caddo Co. Inc.," "Metropolitan Sound Studios," "W.E. System," and several different dates in the month of April 1930. The discs reportedly had belonged to Hughes and were his personal copies before being gifted to film technician Paul “Kansas” Grosso.
