$70,400
An archive of original scripts and story outlines from 75 of the 79 episodes comprising the three seasons of the original Star Trek series (Desilu, 1966-1969), including the pilot episode titled "The Cage. " This lot includes approximately 193 total script drafts from 73 of the episodes, 94 story outlines from 53 of the episodes, a large selection of original memos and additional material that fill five file boxes nearly completely. Key to this massive collection is one of two known outlines/proposals written by none other than William Shatner – an outline for a possible Star Trek episode - as well as a large selection of original outlines and scripts from episodes that were never produced. This entire collection of story department files originated from the Production Office at Desilu Studios. When Desilu Productions shut down, the company was located on the Paramount lot, and the material was set aside to be discarded. At the time, Stembridge Gun Rentals was also located on the Paramount lot (Stembridge was there in a secure facility until 1979). Seeing that the material was destined to be destroyed, a studio employee acquired the material and placed the collection in the gun vault at Stembridge, where it remained until 2005, when the collection was purchased by the current archivist. Because the collection was so well preserved by Stembridge, the material remains in pristine condition (with only a few exceptions). Details: “The Cage” PRODUCTION #? (Voyage #1)
