A period green and ivory checkered dress worn by Shelley Winters as Jane Stevens in Untamed Frontier (Universal, 1952). The custom dress is constructed of green and ivory checked gingham with the bodice detailed in buttons and green ric-rac trim and a corset lace-up back; the skirt has a draped apron, back bow with tails, and box pleat hemline trimmed in circular delectate lace. An internal Universal International label is inscribed “Shelly Winters [sic].” Winters wears this dress in the dance scene when Richard Garland as Charlie Fentress is shot by Scott Brady, playing Glen Denbow. Costume design by Bill Thomas. Post-production alterations are present. Additionally, the dress was worn in the motion picture Law and Order (Universal, 1953), most notably when Ronald Reagan as Frame Johnson brings in a prisoner.
