A group of 20 badges from various Butlin's camps including four Beaver's Club badges. Butlin's ran a chain of very popular and affordable holiday destination camps throughout the United Kingdom. These badges were issued to campers to allow them access to camp entertainment and activities. Badges include: 1952 - Pwllheli; 1958 - Pwllheli, Filey; 1959 - Skegness; 1962 - Bognor, Pwllheli; 1963 - Bognor; 1965 - Ayr, Pwllheli, Filey; 1966 - Pwllheli Committee, Pwllheli, Bognor; 1967 - Filey, Bognor Regis, Minehead; and four Beaver's Club. In addition to being a popular collectible in the U.K., Butlin's also played an important role in Starr's life. Starr played several week long engagements at Butlin's camps with Rory Storm and the Hurricanes including a week long gig at the Pwllheli camp in Wales in 1960 where he reportedly received the nickname Ringo. Most importantly in 1962, while playing with Rory Storm and the Hurricanes at the Skegness camp, John Lennon and Paul McCartney came to the camp to offer Starr the opportunity to join the Beatles.
