In 2000 Invader invaded the world of Contemporary Art creating and exhibiting his pieces to sell in brick and mortar galleries. Shown in Paris and Los Angeles, Space One was exhibited as part of Invader’s breakout show Rubikcubism. The red and blue hues of the tiles transport the viewer into a binary experience almost as if stepping back into the 1978 video game for which Invader took his nom de mosaïque. He affixes mosaic images of characters from the 1970s video game “Space Invaders” in cities around the world. Once a work is completed, Invader records it as an “invasion” and creates accompanying maps and reference books to indicate the location of each piece.
