This rare and original aerosol by the elusive and anonymous graffiti artist is representative of Banksy’s early career. Drawing from Bristol’s burgeoning and diverse underground club scene, the artist revisited the influence of DJ’s on urban culture repeatedly throughout the 90’s and early into the millennia. Banksy produced album covers and artworks for an active subset of musicians including Blur, Röyksopp , One Cut, The Capoiera Twins, Skitz, Monk & Canatella, and Blak Twang to name a few. Prior to placing the stencil on wood, this same stencil appeared several times on the streets of Bristol and London. Examples can be found documented in Banksy's books Banging Your Head Against a Brick Wall (UK, Weapons of Mass Disruption, 2001, pg. 40); Banksy: Wall and Piece (UK, Century, 2005, pg. 21); and Banksy’s Bristol: Home Sweet Home by Steve Wright (UK, Tangeant Books, 2009, pg. 3).
