$37,500
Johnny Cash owned and played Wilkanowski & Sons Airway archtop "Fiddle Guitar," W-4 model, serial number 4, carved spruce top, maple side, back and neck, rosewood fretboard and tailpiece with mother-of-pearl block inlays. This model dates from the late 1930s and was given to Cash as a gift from his wife, June Carter Cash, and kept until his death. This guitar is impressive not only from its connection to Johnny Cash but for its rarity and unique design. Little is known about Willi Wilkanowski. He was a Brooklyn based violin maker who ventured into guitar building in 1937. They were sold locally and no two appear exactly alike.
