Cassette (Realistic SuperTape Gold C45) recording of Madonna playing original tracks in a 1979 solo acoustic demo recording given to bassist Alex Prokofieff to audition as a member of her then unnamed band. Prokofieff later gifted this tape to a girlfriend. While in New York Madonna played with The Breakfast Club, a band formed by her roommates Dan and Ed Gilroy. Madonna also went on to form several other short-lived bands including Madonna and The Sky, The Millionaires and Emmy. This tape was reviewed and written about in an April 2009 article that appeared in Record Collector Magazine. The tape includes "All My Love," "No Running In the City," "Hear Me," a song that evolved into "Shine A Light," "Safe Neighborhood," "Simon Says," which became an Emmy stage played song, "Love Express" and "Little Lost Boy." Several of these songs appeared on Madonna's demo for the New York production company Mia Mind. This is the earliest known Madonna recording - a lo fi, unselfconscious, acoustic look into the early work of a pop icon. Categories: Madonna
