German, Late 19th century. J.D. Schleissner & Son, Hanau, circa 1890, 800 silver centerpiece with large shell form top with rope twisted border. Center of basin kneeling male hunter and antlered stag on columnar base. Bowl form above pedestal base with scrolled foliate motif in rounded triangular medallions above pierced band raised on disc feet. Marked on base with 800 as well as maker's marks. Height 15.4", diameter 16.75". Total weight approximately 44 troy ounces. Provenance: Sotheby's New York: Important English and Continental Silver and Silver Gilt: October 21, 1998 as Lot 128 whereby acquired by Mrs. Dorothy Edwards, Atlanta, Georgia.
