Prouve designed these benches for the headquarters of the Electricite de France around 1950. The interiors of this project are dominated by the intense blue color seen in this example. The development of the leg structure in this bench traces its roots to Prouve's reclining chair of 1930. Prouve used the scissor leg design in many of his furniture and architectural designs throughout his career.
