For the New York World's Fair of 1964, Charles and Ray Eames and Eero Saarinen were asked to design an innovative pavilion for IBM.
The revolutionary structure housed a small city of product displays and interactive zones. The prominent element, the Ovoid Theater, featured eighteen screens displaying numerous still and moving images simultaneously, a forerunner of multimedia display so prevalent in today's digital environment. The four chairs offered here are from the IBM pavilion of 1964, and they feature custom designed seat pads, upholstered in Alexander Girard fabric. Molded label.
