Marc Newson designed the Bucky installation for Le Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain in Paris. Fifty individual triangular elements were created to be used as chairs or connected together to form a three-quarter sphere. The title, Bucky, was taken from the then recently-discovered molecule, Buckminsterfullerene, which itself was named for its resemblance to a Buckminster Fuller sculpture. Five examples included in this lot. literature: Marc Newson, Rawsthorn, ppg. 174-177, 217
