Max Ingrand
Rare sconces, pair
Fontana Arte Italy, c.
1955 colored crystal, frosted glass, brass, enameled brass 11½ w x 3½ d x 21¼ h in (29 x 9 x 54 cm)
result: $40,000
A true rarity, very few examples of this sconce design are known. Organically shaped like a beautiful winged insect, this lamp features layers of crystal in colors from Max Ingrand’s delicate palette: green, rose and blue. The colored glass fans out from a central frosted glass diffuser with an elegant brass clasp in the shape of a drop, a form dear to Ingrand that would be used repeatedly in his most important designs.
