Gio Ponti’s work of the 1930s finely combines elements of Rationalism and Neo-Classicism.
For the 1937 Paris International Exposition, Ponti introduced a new line of furniture in precious woods with a distinct decorative feature: a plissé, or grooved carving. Ponti used this decorative motif for interior projects such as the University of Padova and the Vanzetti apartment.
Desk features five locking drawers.
