Continental School, 20th century. Two patinated spelter figural candleholders in the form of musicians playing faux instruments constructed out of utilitarian tools. Both figures with large flared brimmed hats. One male musician candlestick holder with fire tools (tongs, shovel and bellows hanging on hip) in the stance of playing a stringed instrument such as a violin. The other male musician candlestick holder holding a large slated rectangular tool and playing it as if it were a banjo or guitar. Both figures depicted at full length and in the round standing on a circular base on a round black slate plinth. Unmarked. Height of bronze (without black plinth) 11.5 inches. Provenance: From the Estate of Mr. Thomas V. and Mrs. Marie B. Patton, Atlanta, Georgia.
