Circa 1943-47. Consisting of twenty-eight woodcuts of "The Social Life of The People" and twenty-one of "Military Scenes", most with Chinese writing tipped to the lower margins of the sheets. Each woodcut varies in size, none larger than 12" by 8", each laid to a 10 1/2" by 13 1/4" sheet. (Cond: foxing, some staining, soiling and creases from handling, all loose and unframed. (5000/7000) Accompanied by old typewritten sheets identifying the artists and adding captions to each woodcut. Artists identified are Li Chun, Chi Kuei Sheng, Yen Han, Ku Yuan, Hsia Feng, Chou Ya, Ai Yen, Ma Ta, Chang Yin Hsiuh. Note: These Yan'an woodcuts were ordered by the Chinese Communist Party to assist with the campaigns to alter the social and cultural transformation of the people.
