Rietveld questioned why the finest furniture was shipped in sturdy wooden crates, and decided that a utilitarian approach to furniture design should evolve from its durability and not its precious quality.
He developed a line of furniture based on the simple carpentry of the crate including tables, bookcases, and the chairs shown here. Originally designed in 1934, these examples are a more recent production. Signed with branded mark.
