English, 19th century (circa 1880). Black lacquered sewing table with finely painted and gilt accented chinoiserie decoration throughout. Hinged top lifts to reveal compartments, ivory sewing wares, and some lids with further chinoiserie motif decoration. Apron with pull out shelf with access red fabric fringed bag. Sides with lyre form brackets connected with cross stretcher with large gilt accented paw feet. Height 28.25", width 25.1", depth 16.6". Provenance: Wakefield-Scearce Galleries, Shelbyville, Kentucky whereby acquired by Mrs. Dorothy Edwards, Atlanta, Georgia in 1998.
