Second half of 19th century. Ornate silvered metal mounted ivory lap desk with geometric shaped patterning throughout. Paneled hinged lid at top opens to reveal two lidded glass inkwells and six lidded compartments. Lower section with hinged opening that leads to dark green velvet lined writing surface that further opens underneath to three small pull out drawers above wooden storage expanse. Sides with brass handles for carrying. Apparently unmarked. Height 6.8", width 15", depth 11.75". Provenance: Sotheby's New York whereby acquired by Mrs. Dorothy Edwards, Atlanta, Georgia in the late 1990s.
