Painting after 19th century masterpiece by Castagnola that depicts the romantic relationship between Renaissance painter Fra Filippo Lippi and nun Lucrezia Buti. Nun seated, with pensive facial expression, in an Italian interior, presumably the monastery chapel of S. Margherita in Florence, with frescos, artist wearing a hat, with palette and brushes raised, leaning in toward the young woman. Framed 43.5" x 32.25". Unframed 40.5" x 29.5".
