By descent in an old Richmond, Virginia family. Stitched by hand of woven wool red ground in three sections, faced on both sides by blue wool saltires with white edging and white or uncolored and treadle sewn linen stars. Wear consistent with age and usage, strong canvas standard pocket to one side, possibly added at a later time, some moth damage and fold marks. Old repairs. Measures approximately 56" high, 65" wide (with canvas pocket).
