WILLIAM SEITZ STERLING COVERED BOXES AND A BOOK; Six handwrought prototype boxes of various profiles exhibit masterful technique and complex forms, faceted, oblate, saw-tooth, deep raising, some gilded interiors. All signed and marked. Largest 4 7/8" x 3 3/4" x 3". 57.58 OT. Along with a signed first edition "Silversmithing", by R. Finegold and W. Seitz. Note: William Seitz, a master silversmith born in Germany to a family of silversmiths, apprenticed to Adolf Ilg, Biberach. He moved to the USA in 1936, became a teacher at Craft Students League, and produced for Georg Jensen and Cartier.
