Hoertz in 1964"; measures approximately 27-1/2" x 33-1/2" with wooden frame and has a sight image of approximately 23-1/2" x 29". Painting has Cowan's Auctions Inc. provenance from 2014 in which the description states "Provenance: The Paul DeHaan Collection of Items Related to Admiral D.G. Farragut and the USS Hartford". Frederick J. Hoertz (1889-1978), active in Georgia and South Carolina, was well known for his marine paintings and lithography. He was a lithographic artist with Fred Pansing, c.1910 and worked for shipbuilding and aircraft companies throughout his life.
