French, mid 19th century. A "Spring and Autumn" motif carved French Provincial walnut buffet raised on four squat cabriole legs with scroll feet joined to front by pierced apron with classical urn at center amid leaves in relief and joined to sides by shaped apron, the sides with inset arched panels, the front with double hinged doors each bearing a shaped inset panel with farming or gardening implements - one with a sickle and rake representing Autumn, one with a watering can and spade representing Spring - the panels surrounded by flat carved and relief leaves, flowers, and scrolls, with doors opening to reveal a single shelved interior, with the span above doors bearing central rosette flanked by conforming inset panels with flat carved and relief floral vines, the cabinet surmounted by a rectangular top with serpentine front, with scrolled escutcheons to doors and cabinet hinges with turned form finials. Paper price tag to interior indicating retail price of 15,500 Euro. Approximate height 34.75", width 51.75", depth 22.875".
