Antonio Sereix oil on canvas portrait of Marilyn Monroe; signed and dated "Antonio Sereix 1974" to bottom right corner; measures approximately 32-1/2" x 32" with frame and has a sight image of approximately 23-3/4" x 23-1/2". Antonio Sereix Codina was born in Puigmotto, Spain in 1931. In 1945, Codina began his studies at the Academy of Bellas Artes in Barcelona. By 1959, he had his first solo exhibition in Havana, Cuba, and from there made his way to Miami, FL and Beverly Hills, CA where he exhibited his portrait work. Over the course of several decades, Codina exhibited throughout the United States and Europe. It is clear that Codina has been inspired by the various forms and colors of Puigmotto, where he was born, and has indeed captured its essence in his own unique style. Codina displays a unique versatility in his art while maintaining a consistent presentation of composition and form. Having worked with both oil painting and lithography, Codina has mastered his signature mosaic style, which continues to delight viewers everywhere.
